Collection statement
Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance requires that you are told, at or before the moment your personal data is collected, why it is being collected and what will happen to it. This is that statement. The same text sits above the checkout form, where the collection actually happens.

Given to you at the moment of collection, as the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance requires
- Why we are asking
- To take and fulfil your order: to work out shipping, to check what we are allowed to send to your country, to prepare export and quarantine paperwork where a plant-fibre piece needs it, to take payment, to reach you if something goes wrong, and to handle a return.
- Whether you have to give it
- Supplying it is voluntary. If you do not supply the fields marked required we cannot take the order, because we cannot address a parcel, price its carriage, or tell whether your country will accept what is in it.
- Who else sees it
- Our carrier and its customs broker; the plant health authority issuing a phytosanitary certificate where one is needed; our payment provider, which receives your card details directly and not through us; and our email provider. Nothing is sold, rented or passed to anyone for their own marketing.
- Seeing it and correcting it
- You may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to Hong Kong Bolin Rui International Trade Limited at support@starlivehk.com or to the registered office in the footer. The full policy is at privacy and this statement has its own page at pics.
Where this statement is given to you
- At checkout, above the form, before any field. It is not behind a link, not inside an accordion, and cannot be dismissed.
- On the contact form and the cancellation form, as a line under the send button pointing here.
- On this page, so you can read it before you begin.
The classes of data we collect
- Identity: your first and last name.
- Contact: email address and telephone number with country code.
- Delivery: address lines, town or city, postal code, and destination country.
- Transaction: which pieces you bought, at what price, and when.
- Correspondence: whatever you write to us, and for a cancellation, the order reference, piece number and dates.
We do not collect card details. Those go from your browser to the payment provider directly.
We do not collect any measurement of you or your home. There is no sizing tool on this site.
Whether you have to give it
It is voluntary. Nothing on this site forces you to identify yourself to browse. If you do not supply the fields marked required at checkout, we cannot take the order, because we cannot address a parcel, price its carriage, or determine whether your country will accept what is in it.
Who your data may be transferred to
- Our carrier and its customs broker.
- The plant health authority issuing a phytosanitary certificate, where a plant-fibre piece is going somewhere that requires one.
- Our payment provider.
- Our email and hosting providers, acting as processors on our instructions.
None of them may use it for their own marketing. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
Access and correction
You may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to Hong Kong Bolin Rui International Trade Limited at support@starlivehk.com or to the registered office. We answer within forty days.
