Accessibility
This site is built to WCAG 2.1 level AA. The part that needed the most care is the deviation drawing, because the single most important thing this shop publishes — how far a piece sits from its drawing — must not live only inside a picture.

Contact form →The deviation drawing
- Every drawing is accompanied by a real table with a caption and row and column headers, giving the drawing figure, the measured figure and the difference in millimetres for each of the three points. The table is always present and never collapsed.
- The drawing itself carries a text alternative that states the same three differences in words.
- The two outlines are told apart by line style as well as colour: the drawing is dashed, the piece is solid, and the area between them is hatched rather than filled flat.
Pieces we cannot send to your country
These are greyed and desaturated, but they are not removed from the page and not removed from the accessibility tree. No display: none, no aria-hidden. Each carries aria-disabled and is associated by aria-describedby with the text saying why we do not send it there. A screen reader gets the same information a sighted reader does, in the same order.
The destination picker
A native select element, reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible label. The count beside it — how many pieces we can send, how many are held — is in a live region, so a change is announced rather than only shown.
Measured contrast
The palette is two colours: a grey-green ground and a warm yellow accent. The accent is the one that needed testing, because a warm yellow on a mid green is exactly the pairing that fails. It does fail as body text at its full strength, so it is used at full strength only for lines and shapes, and a lighter tint of the same hue is used wherever the accent has to carry words.

Elsewhere on the site
- Photographs of flaws carry a description of the flaw and where it is, not the word “image”.
- Form errors appear as text with a warning mark beside them, so the error is never signalled by colour alone, and the summary is announced as an alert.
- Every control is reachable by keyboard in a sensible order, with a visible focus ring that meets contrast in both the light and the dark sections.
- Zoom to 200% reflows to two columns without horizontal scrolling.
- Motion respects
prefers-reduced-motion: the drawing stops animating and transitions are cut. - A skip link is the first thing in the tab order on every page.
- Headings are in order, one h1 per page, and landmarks are labelled.
Where we know we fall short
- The shelf at its densest is five columns of small cards. At 200% zoom it reflows, but on a small screen at large text sizes the cards are tight. We would rather tell you than claim otherwise.
- The turning film in the middle of the home page plays automatically. It is silent, it is decorative, and it stops for
prefers-reduced-motion, but there is no pause button on it yet.
